MCDU:
Multipurpose Control and Display Unit

The MCDU is located on the central
pedestral. He gives the crew
immediate acces to the flight
handling functionalities.

This first version of the MCDU, will probably be the
most complete one you could find over the Net.
The big complexity of this tool is responsible for
the delays in the release of the first version. A
complete tutorial will be put online as soon as the
first release is ready,

Fonctionalities:
Route: All the functions dedicated to the Flight Plan handling will be
available. Route and pseudo-waypoint display will be handled by the
The MCDU is handling the cost index function.
Complete route handling, with SID, Transition, Route, Transition, STAR,
Holdings, VIAs, Approaches, Go Around, and Alternates routes. Route
selection through the 'Company Route' field in the INIT page is available.
Tool to create and modify database is included.
Temporary fligh plan handled.
Complete acces to all pages related to lateral and vertical revisions,
constraints insertion, etc...
Diversion handling.
Only the PLN SEC is unavailabe at that time.
Predictions:PHandling and computations in all phase of flights, including
the psuedo waypoints. SPD LIM, T/C, T/D, SPD LIM, DECEL computation.
Performance: All pages available,
Radio Nav: A standalone module allows you to select simultaneously 2
VORs, 2 ADF, and 1 ILS. It's done through the RAD NAV page of the MCDU,
using frequency or radio nav Id, using the database. A special module is
dedicated to computations and generate datas for displays on the ND.
Autonuning fonctionality allows automatic selection of the displayed radio nav
along the flight plan. Manual insertion is available too.
Auto Pilot: Authrottle mode handling, computation of FLEX, TOGA, CLB
thrusts.
Managed climb modes (under developement)
Fly by wire handling with flight enveloppe protection (alpha floor).(under
developement)
